Donated by the Indian Railways in 1991, the Lifeline Express (LLE) represents the curative aspect of IIF's mandate. The World's First and India's only Multi-Specialty Tertiary Care “Hospital on Rail”, LLE, is equipped with two state-of-the-art Operation Theatres. It serves rural areas which lack the following
  • availability of quality medical infrastructure and specialised care
  • affordability of treatment, and
  • awareness of the deformities and disease that are preventable and can be treated

At Each Project Halt, LLE Undertakes

LLE conducts 10 projects every year, with an average of 6000 to 8000 patients benefitting at each halt.
  • Cataract surgery
  • Vision testing and provides spectacles
  • Hearing surgery
  • Audiometry testing and provides hearing aids
  • Plastic surgery – for congenital deformities like Cleft lip, and Burn contractures
  • Orthopaedic surgery for limb lengthening and congenital club foot impairment
  • Treatment of chronic conditions such as Epilepsy, Diabetes and Hypertension
  • Dental treatment
  • Diagnostics to detect Oral, Breast & Cervical Cancer

LLE Projects Held In The Financial Year (FY) 2022–23

220th LLE project held from 14th to 30th April 2022 at Nakti Semra in Bastar District, Chhattisgarh benefitted 7833 patients

221st LLE project conducted from 15th May 2022 to 1st June 2022 at Khariar Road railway station in Nuapada District, Odisha State: 7637 beneficiaries treated.

222nd LLE project held from 10th June 2022 to 13th July 2022 at Katihar Junction & Barsoi railway station in Barsoi District, Bihar State: 11,133 patients benefitted.

223rd LLE project held from 22nd July 2022 to 13th August 2022 at Angul in Angul District, Odisha treated 8306 beneficiaries.

224th LLE project conducted from 15th to 30th September 2022 at Goregaon Road Railway Station in Raigad District, Maharashtra benefitted 9850 patients

225th LLE project held from 12th October 2022 to 2nd November 2022 at Sirpur Kaghaznagar Railway station in Kumoram Bheem Asifabad District, Telangana medically served 8148 beneficiaries
