What is Impact?
Making an IMPACT
One-tenth of India's rural poor are disabled and handicapped.
In October 1983, IMPACT was created to act as a catalyst for the prevention of disablement. IMPACT was officially launched as an International Initiative against Avoidable Disablement.
In nineteen years, IMPACT India's efforts and achievements have won worldwide support and acclaim,  including :
  • United Nations Grand Award for Excellence in Public Service worldwide
  • Golden World Award for Public Service
  • EXPO 2000 Award for an innovative Public Service project
  • Golden Web Award for best web design and content
Impact India has created award-winning replicable projects, which have established it as an action-oriented catalyst not only in India but throughout the world. Several thousand articles have appeared in the international press and seven international documentaries have been produced on the Lifeline Express.

Impact's internationally acclaimed LIFELINE EXPRESS, the world's first hospital on a train, has become a model for transfer of Indian appropriate technology to setting up similar projects in China, Zimbabwe and a hospital river boat - "Jibon Tori", in Bangladesh.

Impact has conducted a wide range of mass health projects:
Impact India's core strengths :
  • Liaising closely with Government/Corporate bodies, Non-Government Organisations and individual volunteers
  • Appropriate Communication
  • Timely Execution
  • Project and Financial management
  • Creating Health awareness
IMPACT India Foundation is a Registered Public Trust promoted by the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, and the World Health Organisation in association with the Government of India.
