The
Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI) presented
their 2002-2003 Social Responsibility Communication Award to Impact
India Foundation at a glittering function at the Taj Mahal Hotel,
Mumbai on December 10, 2004. The Awards Ceremony was full of
excitement with bugles blowing and the anticipation of winning
written large on the faces of all who were nominated.
Thunderous applause greeted Mrs. Zelma Lazarus, CEO, Impact India
Foundation, as she received the Award for Impact’s much-acclaimed
film “Raise Your Hands for Impact” which profiles Impact’s range of
activities and states its commitment to the cure and prevention of
Disability reversal and preventive Projects. Directed by Ms. Imtiaz
Dharker, the film was telecast nationwide on ‘Doordarshan’ to a
viewership of four million and continues to be used significantly to
raise awareness and support for Impact’s various projects.
Impact India Foundation, together with three other corporate houses,
was nominated for the Award, which stands for a campaign that has as
its main purpose the communication of a company’s efforts in meeting
its social responsibilities beyond its main business.
The ABCI Awards are designed to promote excellence in all areas of
written and visual business communications, the purpose being to
recognize the very best in corporate communications. The competition
was open to public and private sector enterprises, public utility
and non-profit organizations or associations for their communication
work done during 2003. A large number of entries were received from
all over India making the competition truly representative of the
communication skills in the country, and providing a benchmark for
communications excellence. |
