Kondalrao Gunderao
Halewale - Operation Theatre Technician, Lifeline Express
|
|
|
|
|
|
Hailing from Bidar District in Karnataka, Kondal is one of the
oldest employees, having been associated with Impact since 1989!
Always smiling and respectful, he is totally committed, in spite of
the long hours which sometimes require him to be on his feet for
nearly 14 hours at a stretch with barely a break! Besides being an
Operation Theatre Technician, his work includes stock maintenance
and taking inventory as well as maintaining cleanliness on the
train. A family oriented man, he looks forward to his annual
vacation once a year and going home to his wife Meena, his three
daughters, Aswini, Sanjeevani and Rani, and his son Pawan. They miss their Papa, but they also know that what Papa does is very special work.
A natural linguist, he speaks English, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil and Marathi. You ask him if he would like to trade his job for another, and aghast, he said, “I
have worked hard for 13 years here, Lifeline Express is like my
home"; well you don't quit your home, do you!

Soft-spoken, Ramkumar is from Muzaffarpur District in Bihar. Married to
Leela, he has two young sons, Sunny and Ankur and is a relatively new member of the Lifeline team, having joined in the year 1997.

Susanta Kumar Rath
- Electrical Appliances in charge,
Lifeline Express
|
|
|
|
|
|
He is the man who makes sure the temperature on board the Lifeline Express
never rises. When there is a power or electrical failure, he is Mr. Fix-it, in charge of the maintenance of the all-important Generators,
Air-conditioners, fans, etc.
He has been on the Lifeline Express for nearly 9 years, working under pressure but loving every minute of his work. He says he is proud to be associated with the
Lifeline Express, though the working conditions and accommodation is far from ideal. However,
travelling across the country and meeting different people, compensates for it.
Hailing from Bhubaneswar in Orissa, Rath (as he is known), is normally rather quiet, but quite matter-of-fact when he does speak ! A qualified electrical technician from
Indian Technical Institute, he converses fluently in English, besides Hindi and Oriya.
In December 2001 he was married to Sasmita.
