The Lifeline Express, worlds first ever hospital Train, opened for public display today at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai. It will be on display on Platform No.10 until Friday, January 24, 2003 from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
The Operation Theatre of the Lifeline Express is fitted with modern equipment and the latest medical gadgets e.g. Three operating tables with matching sets of microscopes, and anesthetic apparatus etc. Three patients can be operated simultaneously. To date 360,000 of India’s disabled, rural poor have been medically served, restoring sight, movement, hearing and correction of clefts, all free of cost, with the donated services of 60,000 surgeons and medical personnel.
The Train is on its journey to Lonavla for its 59th Project, being sponsored by the Tata Power Company Ltd. The Project is from 15th February to 20th March 2003. |
