Cebu City, Philippines hosted an International Federation of Impact Organisations conference in February 2007. Impact India was represented by Chairman, A. H. Tobaccowala and CEO, Zelma Lazarus. The conference attended by 10 Impact member countries focused on the theme, “Challenges for Innovative and Cost Effective Strategies in Preventing and Mitigating Disability.”
The School Health Programme was identified as the Banner Project which is also an integral part of Impact’s Community Health Initiative. Earlier known as International Federation for Impact Foundations (IFIF) the alliance brought together 19 countries with the single goal to prevent and mitigate all causes that lead to disability as a consequence. The conference finalised its New Constitution in mutual agreement with the present member countries and proclaims the following objectives in addition to prevention and mitigation of disability:
- Immunisation
- Early Malnutrition
- Safer Motherhood and Child Survival
- Early Identification, Treatment and Rehabilitation
- Affordable Accessible Surgery
- Healthy Ageing
- Prevention of Trauma
- Provision of Safe Water and Sanitation
All of these will significantly contribute to alleviating and promoting good health.
