Impact India seeks to partner with the State Government's Tribal Development Department to upgrade Ashramshalas as part of it's Community Health Initiative (CHI) in rural, Thane District, which is mainly inhabited by 1.5 million Below Poverty Line tribals. There are 101 Ashramshalas, each with about 500 children, in the 7 Blocks of Impact India's CHI. Of them 63 are Government-run while 38 are Grant-In-Aid schools
